Werner Herzog’s LITTLE DIETER NEEDS TO FLY, 1997

Herzog’s documentary focuses on Dieter Dengler’s entrapment as a Vietcong prisoner-of-war. Dengler explains the details of his childhood, dreams of flight, frightening capture, and harrowing escape with a calm and emotionally understandable mindset. A film with a subject that clearly speaks for himself. Herzog also adapted the Dengler story into another narrative entitled RESCUE DAWN, which was released in 2006 (another awesome film). +_+
